Some Wiltshire residents did not have their garden waste collected last week.

Wiltshire Council warned residents that its waste and recycling teams have been experiencing issues with emptying bins as a result of the freezing conditions.

Posting on X on Saturday, December 2, the council explained the contents of some waste bins as well as lids had frozen and prevented the full bin from being emptied in some cases.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire council said: “Current cold weather conditions may mean our crews have problems emptying garden waste bins where the contents or lids have frozen.

“Crews will try to empty as much as possible, but some waste may remain. We are unable to return to these bins.”
