A Wiltshire beauty therapist who is now fully booked until February has been shortlisted as finalist for a national award.

Lisa Carter of Lisa’s Beauty Room in Roundstone Street, Trowbridge, has been certified as a finalist for Beauty Therapist of the Year by The Beauty Full Awards 2024.

The 32-year-old launched her business in January 2020 after training at Bath College and working in Lacock.

She said: “I’m extremely pleased. This is the first time that I’ve been nominated for a national award. It’s amazing.

“This opportunity would not be possible without the support and loyalty of all my clients over the last 12 years as a beauty therapist.”

Lisa’s Beauty Room is an intimate beauty salon offering a variety of different beauty treatments to meet the needs of each individual.

Treatments available are manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, massage, body treatments and eye treatments. The brands used within the salon are OPI, Gellux, Eve Taylor and CACI.

Lisa’s Beauty Room opened full time in January 2020 just before the country’s beauty industry was hit hard by the first Covid pandemic lockdown.

Lisa said: “I could not be furloughed as I had just given up being in full-time employment and I could not get self-employment grants.

“I didn’t have a tax return from 2018/19 that showed I was self-employed as proof of income.

“I went for a year without help until I managed to obtain a discrepancy grant from Trowbridge Town Council.”

After being able to reopen her salon doors post-Covid Lisa has showed sheer determination to succeed.

She has gone on to build a bigger and better beauty salon in 2022 and has attracted clients from competitors who were forced to close their business.

Lisa now has a large client base covering the Wiltshire area and she is consistently growing her business to meet the needs of her clients.

The awarding body of beauty industry experts said: "We look carefully at each application and only those that can show outstanding skills are shortlisted to the finals so Lisa of Lisa’s Beauty Room has shown their quality and standard of work is at a high level to receive the finalist title.”

The grand final will be held on Thursday, September 26 2024 when Lisa’s Beauty Room will find out if it has what it takes to beat the competition and claim the top spot.
