An outline planning application for up to 180 new homes on the edge of Trowbridge has been submitted to Wiltshire Council.
The proposal suggests the demolition of existing farm buildings to make way for the dwellings on land at Maxcroft Farm on Marsh Road, Hilperton.
The development will also contain a central green space and a play area, as well as walking and cycling routes connected to the Hilperton community.
The applicant, Barratt Homes, says that over the course of the consultation during May and June 2023, the project team engaged with local politicians, representative groups and over 2,000 residents and businesses.
Invitations to the public consultation event on Tuesday, June 13 were sent to 2,360 addresses, and a total of 101 residents attended.
Hilperton Parish Council raised concerns about the existing traffic issues along Marsh Road.
In response, Barratt Homes has included a number of further measures in the application, such as improved road markings and signage, as well as traffic calming to the east of the roundabout.
The developer says that the new homes will respect the architectural and landscape character of the locality whilst providing a significant and sustainable contribution to housing needs.
The decision deadline date for Wiltshire Council is Friday, March 3, 2024.
