Wiltshire Police is urgently appealing for CCTV and doorbell footage after a number of cars were stolen overnight from properties in Westbury.

Officers were alerted that a 4x4 car was stolen from a driveway on Mays Drive, Westbury, between 9pm on Wednesday, January 10 and 6.20am on Thursday, January 11.

A number of vehicles on Baynton Close, less than 500 metres away from Mays Drive, have also been reported as stolen overnight.

It is believed that these two incidents are connected.

Wiltshire Police officers say they are now going door to door carrying out a number of enquiries, and are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity, or has doorbell footage, to come forward.

“Vehicles today are by and large more difficult to steal than ever, unless the thief can access your key or fob to clone them,” said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.

“Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home, and away from your front door.

“Thieves often attempt to life vehicles from the street, literally.

“So, if you see a towaway crew acting suspiciously, especially if their vehicle isn’t branded or if they’re not in uniform, then please report it immediately.”

If you have information or footage which could help police in their enquiries, you should get in contact by calling 101 and quoting the crime reference number 54240003617.
