A permanent gatehouse has been approved to help with security at the Dyson Malmesbury campus.

The 39.5 sqm facility will be situated to the north of the site, close to its link to the B4014.

The Wiltshire-based institute was established in 1993 and is one of the largest research and development hubs in Britain.

It is the base for over 3,500 employees and also home to the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Wiltshire Council recently received another defence-related application in October 2023, when Dyson proposed high-security fencing and gates on its nearby site at Hullavington Airfield to address ongoing security issues.

In other planning news, Wiltshire Council received and considered many other applications this week.

A 1.6-hectare fishing lake has been proposed at Gryphon Lodge Farm, north west of Swindon, near Leigh.

The lake would be stocked with specimen carp and offered on exclusive lets for up to a week, with guests staying in an adjacent lodge.

Wiltshire Council also received an application for three glamping pods on land at Botany Farm, on Bradley Road in Warminster.

A proposal for a new 3-pitch traveller caravan site, with a day room and boundary fencing, was also sent in for land in the small village of Clyffe Pypard.

Meanwhile, The Wheatsheaf Inn in Chilton Foliat and The White Horse Inn in Quidhampton were both nominated to become assets of community value.  

The playing field adjacent to Hilmarton Primary School near Calne was approved to become such an asset.

New homes were proposed on land adjacent to 279 Quemerford, in Calne.

A new dwelling was approved at 4 The Flood in Middle Winterslow and another was refused at 10 Thornhill, south of Royal Wootton Bassett.
