A 15-year-old boy has been charged with burglary after an incident at a pensioner’s home.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged following the incident at the property of a 90-year-old man in Snarlton Lane, Melksham, on January 23.
Police say jewellery and cash were stolen during the reported burglary.
The 15-year-old, from Melksham, was remanded in custody and appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday, January 26.
He is due to appear at the same court again on February 6.
A 16-year-old boy from Melksham was also arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
PC Simon Margetts from Wiltshire Police’s Burglary Team said: “This incident understandably caused upset within the local community so I would like to reassure residents that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously and will always conduct a thorough investigation to identify suspects.
"I hope news that that one person has now been charged and will appear before the courts is reassuring to the local community. Our investigation will continue.”
