On the 14th of January, Trowbridge civic centre held a pantomime of the traditional tale 'Sleeping Beauty.' Jam packed with jokes, fun songs, and incredible acting from all of those involved, this performance made a lovely family outing.

The performance follows Aurora who has a curse placed on her at her christening where she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. The good fairy was able to lighten the curse by letting Aurora sleep for 100 years instead of dying instantly.

Throughout the performance, the audience witness how Aurora and her friends thwart the wicked witch's plans while preparing for Aurora's birthday party. However, their attempts were in vain when they all get separated from each other, leaving Aurora alone and in the mercy of the Wicked Witch.

Luckily, true love saves the day when a prince finds Aurora after 100 years of sleep and successfully wakes her and her friends (who were put to sleep with her so she can wake up and not be alone) with true love's kiss.

The performance was very enjoyable even though there were a couple microphone issues, the actors persevered which is very admirable because that would have tripped up a large majority of people if they were in the actor's situation. Another lovely aspect of this performance is how inclusive the cast was.

An audience member said ‘I like the community feel that it brings, and I liked that they used a range of different abilities in the pantomime as well and how interactive it is for the children’

‘It was very well orchestrated and everybody that took part was fantastic’

‘They [the actors] all did very well in their roles. I particularly liked Wilbert and the evil witch (I can’t remember her name) she played the villain very well’
