Permission has been granted for a new McDonald’s to put up its signage at the old British Heart Foundation store in Warminster’s Castlemore Retail Park.

The company that owns the park, WES No1 Ltd, was initially granted approval in October 2023 to change the use of the retail unit into a restaurant and takeaway.

The applicant’s covering letter requested flexibility to operate a restaurant with a higher level of takeaway but did not mention McDonald’s.

A week after its approval, Wiltshire Council received a planning application for McDonald’s signage at the unit.

A consultation period was held during which two letters of support were received and no objections were submitted by Warminster Town Council.

Wiltshire Council has now approved the installation of the signage, comprised of a white acrylic "McDonald's" letterset and a yellow acrylic "golden arch”.

The McDonald’s will be flanked by two other retail units, currently occupied by Argos and B&M.

Castlemore Retail Park is located less than two hundred yards from Warminster’s railway station.

The British Heart Foundation's lease expired in January and the store is now permanently closed.
