Wiltshire Search and Rescue was part of a huge effort to find a vulnerable boy missing in Wiltshire.

The 11-year-old with autism went missing in the south of the county at 1pm on Saturday, which prompted a police response.

Several other agencies joined Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILTSAR) in the attempt to locate the youngster, last seen wearing a marble effect black and red hoody, black jogging bottoms and white Nike trainers.

These included Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs, Hampshire Search and Rescue, Dorset Search Dogs, Dorset Search and Rescue and Avon & Somerset Search and Rescue.

Drones, dogs, boats and people on foot were all used during the search.

At 7.30pm on the same day, the good news was shared by Wiltshire Police that the child had been found safe and well.

A WILTSAR spokesperson said: "Team deployed by Wiltshire Police control room to search for a child with autism in the south of the county

"Missing child found alive."

This was the not-for-profit organisation's tenth callout of the year so far.

Wiltshire Search & Rescued relies on its own fundraising, along with donations, grants and sponsorship from the public and companies.

All of its members are unpaid volunteers and it does not charge for its services.
