One of Greggs’ High Street branches in Wiltshire has learned its latest food hygiene rating after a recent inspection.

The Greggs bakery on Chippenham High Street was visited by officers from Wiltshire Council’s Food and Safety Team on February 27.

After carrying out checks at the national chain’s takeaway, inspectors awarded the branch a five-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

The score was based on the performance of the business in a number of key categories.

This included the staff’s hygienic handling of food, the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and the management of food safety at the site.

The management of food safety includes the systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold at a premises is safe to eat, and the confidence an inspector has that these standards will be maintained in the future.

Officers found that the standards at Greggs were “very good” in all three categories.

The High Street branch is one of four Greggs locations in Chippenham, with the others located at Hathaway Retail Park, and at service stations on Bath Road and the Malmesbury Roundabout.

All four sites currently boast five-out-of-five food hygiene ratings.

Greggs was approached for comment.
