POLICE have conducted house-to-house enquiries after windows were smashed at St James’ Chambers in Trowbridge.

The windows of the historic property in Union Street were damaged in the early hours of Sunday morning, reportedly by a couple who were heard rowing before they made off.

Built in the mid-19th century in the Classical style, the property was Grade II listed in November 1976.

The crime is not being linked at this time to a wave of damage to windows in shops and offices in Trowbridge town centre in the runup to Christmas and New Year.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We responded to reports of criminal damage on Union Street, Trowbridge in the early hours of Sunday.

“The windows of a property were smashed by what is believed to be a couple who were shouting before heading off towards Sainsbury's.

“Officers have carried out house-to-house enquiries and would like to hear from anyone who has CCTV, doorbell footage, or saw anything suspicious around midnight in that area.

“If you can help with our enquiries, please contact us on 101 quoting reference number 54240030914.”
