A banking chain has provided an update on the future of two of its Wiltshire branches amid widespread closures.
The loss of the Wiltshire branch comes after the banking group, which includes Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, confirmed it would close 166 branches in 2024 and 10 next year.
This has sparked concern amongst residents that the nearby Lloyds Bank branches in Chippenham and Devizes may be at risk.
A Lloyds Bank spokesperson said that, at this stage, no announcement had been made to close either of these branches.
They added that if any decision is taken to close these banks Lloyds colleagues and customers will be the first to know.
The spokesperson explained that the closure of the Marlborough branch was a result of 83 per cent of customers in the area using other methods of banking.
They said: “As many customers now choose to bank through their mobile app or online, visits to our Marlborough branch have fallen over recent years.
“The local Post Office offers everyday banking, with cash also available at close by free-to-use ATMs.
“Customers can also manage their money through our mobile banking apps, online, by calling us or speaking to a Community Banker.”
