A Wiltshire destination has been named the seventh most popular waterside location in the UK by a new study.
Research conducted by boat insurance experts InsureMy has analysed Google search data to find out which UK waterside destinations are being looked for the most online.
Caen Hill Locks, on the outskirts of Devizes, came in at seventh on a list of the 128 most searched destinations from the Canal and River Trust.
The popular tourist attraction is one of the longest continuous flights of locks in the UK, with a total of 29, and was the subject of 4,550 Google searches per month on average.
The national list was topped by Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, which recorded a whopping 17,508 searches a month.
The other southwest destination to sneak into the top 10 was Dundas Aqueduct, at Monkton Combe near Bath, which was ranked the ninth most popular waterside location.
Stewart Barnett, the head of Marketing at InsureMy, said: “With the ongoing costs of living crisis, many people choose to have day trips out to scenic UK locations instead of going abroad.
“These findings feature stunning landscapes that offer visitors the perfect places to visit.”
