The family of a boy who died in a fatal collision described him as “the light of our small village” in a heartbreaking tribute.

Lennix Sutcliffe, 8, was fatally wounded after being struck by a vehicle on Woodland View, in Dilton Marsh near Westbury, at around 4.30pm on Saturday, April 13.

Emergency services were called but Lennix died at the scene.

Police say he was on a low-down toy scooter at the time of the crash, which took place as a driver was pulling into a driveway.

Lennix’s parents, Jackie and Chris, have now paid tribute to their “happy-go-lucky” son.

They said: “Our Lennix was always playing, a happy-go-lucky child who was loved by everyone and who loved everyone.

“He simply loved life and was the light of our small village.

“He loved Pokémon and his favourite character was Charizard.

“He was playing today, just playing, taking every ounce of enjoyment that life offered.”

Police have asked that the family’s privacy be respected while they come to terms with the loss.

Jackie and Chris added: “We as a family are now coming together to support one another.

“We ask our community to provide us both time and space in the days, weeks and months ahead of us.”

Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “If you can help, please call 101 and quote log number 218.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
