A Wiltshire hotel and health club could be transformed into 15 new flats if Wiltshire Council approves a recent planning application.

The owner of Fieldways Hotel and Health Club, on Hilperton Road in Trowbridge, has requested permission to convert the grade-two listed Edwardian mansion into apartments.

A planning application for this project was previously submitted in 2022 but later withdrawn.

It appears the transformation is back on the cards now as the owner has re-sent the plans to the council.

This most recent application states: “The proposed programme of development puts forward a positive scheme for the renovation of Fieldways Hotel and Health Club within the existing setting.

“Significant elevations will be preserved within the scheme, with modern annexing removed to reveal historic fabric, in the region of the laundry, link building and the dance studio, which will be returned to a courtyard.”

The new development will keep the existing 33 parking spaces and the applicant noted that the number of affordable units remains “an area for discussion.”

The 13-bedroom, family-run hotel currently has a bar, restaurant and function facilities.

It went up for sale in 2018 for offers of over £1.2 million.
