THE organisers of Trowbridge Weavers Market are ecstatic after delivering their busiest event ever on Saturday (June 7).

The event has being managed by Green Top Markets of Newport in South Wales since April.

Cllr Stewart Palmen, chair of the Trowbridge Weavers Market organising committee, said: “Saturday’s market was excellent. It was the busiest market we have had so far.Wiltshire Times: June’s Weavers Market was one of the busiest with 42 stalls drawing in the shoppers to Trowbridge on Saturday. “People were spending and there was a really good atmosphere. It was cooler than we would expect at this time but that actually helped. It was not too hot.

“It was also nice having the floral festival starting with the shops in the town centre looking nice.

“It was a good day and it is really working now with Green Top Markets managing the event.

“It has been a good decision and has really taken the Weavers Market up a notch this year.”

Saturday’s event featured 42 stalls, and there was a heavy emphasis on plants and flowers to coincide with The Great Big Green Week from June 8-16.

Trowbridge Apple Festival organiser Mel Jacob handed out more than 100 pumpkin plants donated by Trowbridge Garden Centre for the Trowbridge Flower Festival currently taking place in the town.

She’s asking growers to bring back their pumpkins to the Trowbridge Apple Festival taking place on Saturday, October 5.

“We handed them out to people of all ages, one went to a child aged one and a half, and adults who were a lot older.

“There should be an amazing display if they all bring them back to the Apple Festival in October.”
