Police are taking steps to clamp down on shoplifting and anti-social behaviour in a Wiltshire town centre.

Officers from the Warminster Neighbourhood Policing Team have been patrolling the town centre as part of an ongoing operation to support local businesses.

This includes cracking down on shoplifting and anti-social behaviour.

On Tuesday, July 2, high visibility patrols were carried out around the area, including inside shops, and staff members were offered crime prevention advice.

Officers say they also spoke to traders to obtain information about the ongoing issues in the town.

Police have urged any witnesses or victims of shoplifting, or any other crime, to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “If you witness or are a victim of shoplifting or any crime, please do not hesitate to report it.

“In the event of an emergency please call 999 otherwise if it is non-urgent (no immediate threat to life or property) this can be reported via 101 or online through the Wiltshire Police website.

“Shoplifting and anti-social behaviour is not a victimless crime, it affects us all.”
