Swindon Town were plunged deeper into relegation trouble this afternoon after losing to West Country rivals Yeovil at the County Ground.

Swindon fell behind on eight minutes after Craig Alcock was allowed the time and space to head in Danny Schofield's corner.

Town, looking low on confidence, went further behind on 29 minutes when a clever one-two with Gifton Noel-Williams and Lee Peltier saw the latter drill the ball low past Smith.

Swindon offered little after that but got a life-line in first half stoppage time when Michael Timlin, who had been poor up until then, curled a superb free-kick into the corner of the net.

That goal fired Town up and they were level within two minutes of the restart, JP McGovern pouncing on a loose ball to drill home.

Town dominated, but a third goal looked unlikely for either side until Town went to sleep and, after failing to clear their lines, conceded again when Jerel Ifil completed a torrid performance by deflecting the ball past Phil Smith.

A last throw of the dice saw Town go 3-4-3 but to no avail, Simon Cox missing an excellent chance to level late on.
