Goalkeeper Peter Brezovan preserved a precious point for battling Town with a couple of world-class stops at Boundary Park.

The Slovakian stopper clawed clear Lee Hughes' near-post header in the second half, before tipping a drive from Latics sub Lewis Alessandra around the post with five minutes to go.

Town were great value for their point - their second clean sheet of the league season - and could have nicked all three as debutant sub Hamdi Razak saw his stinging volley palmed clear by goalkeeper Greg Fleming.

Fleming had denied Billy Paynter while Town loan signing Gordon Greer also went close as Town enjoyed the better of a largely uneventful first half.

Doncaster defender Greer just failed to steer in Hal Robson-Kanu's swinging corner at the far post on 13 minutes before Paynter saw his effort from the edge of the box tipped away for a corner by Fleming just after the half hour.

THESE ARE THE GAME'S KEY MOMENTS 1 min: Lee Hughes flicks a free-kick in the direction of Dean Windass, but the on-loan Hull man's weak lob is easily dealt with by Peter Brezovan.

2 mins: Simon Cox sneaks in behind the defence and just fails to get his foot to Chris Allen's curling cross.

13 mins: Gordon Greer's 60-yard cross-field pass finds McGovern, whose attempted cross is blocked out for a corner. Hal Robson-Kanu's vicously swinging set-piece evades everyone except a charging Greer at the far post, but he is unable to control his close-range effort and it flies high and wide.

23 mins: Mark Allott fires a 30-yard effort that Brezovan deals with comfortably after Town only half-clear a free-kick.

26 mins: Lee Hughes goes one-on-one with Greer and reaches the by-line before clipping a delightful ball towards the far post where Kevin Amankwaah clears excellently from under his own bar while being fouled by Chris Taylor.

30 mins: A delightful move involving Jon-Paul McGovern and Cox sends Chris Allen through. The midfielder's measured clip towards Robson-Kanu at the far post is cleared for a corner.

32 mins: Pat Kanyuka wins back possession in midfield and finds Robson-Kanu on the left edge of the box. His perceptive pass goes to Billy Paynter, whose turn and shot is turned around the post by keeper Greg Fleming.

37 mins: Hughes cuts in from the left edge of the box and fires in a low shot that Brezovan gathers at the second attempt with Windass lurking.

40 mins: Danny Whitaker's guided effort flies harmlessly high and wide from the edge of the area.

42 mins: Greer's clearance from an Oldham corner hits teammate Jerel Ifil and rebounds to an offside Hughes who, nonetheless, fires wide from in front of goal eight yards out.

56 mins: McNamee nearly makes an imediate impression, lifting a cross to the far post that Paynter somehow fails to connect with five yards out.

65 mins: Hamdi Razak replaces Paynter for his Town debut.

71 mins: Razak's spectacular volley is tipped over by Fleming after McNamee's attempted pass to McGovern balloons to him on the edge of the box.

78 mins: Hughes heads wide with the goal gaping as Town's defence goes missing at a free kick.

79 mins: Brezovan claws out Hughes' near-post header from a Lomax cross.

85 mins: Oldham's best chance of the match. Hughes chests down for unmarked sub Alessandra, but Brezovan brilliantly turns his shot around the post.
