Swindon Town boss Danny Wilson has told Simon Cox to be prepared for pre-season training at Town, as speculation about the frontman’s future goes quiet.

The Robins have already received and rejected three bids for their 32-goal striker, pictured below, – one of which came from Championship new boys Leicester City.

But no further offers have been put on the table since, and with Cox jetting off on holiday to Egypt earlier this week Wilson, pictured above, left him with a clear message.

“The last thing I said to Simon before he went away was to be prepared for pre-season here because I’ve got some special runs for him,” said the boss.

“So if he comes back then fantastic. Simon’s got a very level head on him and is not pushing one way or the other.

“He just wants to be kept informed of everything that is happening, and we do that.

“The chairman has been fantastic with him – they have a very good working relationship. It is trustworthy between the three of us and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be.”

Wilson believes clubs are playing a waiting game with regards to potential new signings, as they try to take stock of the whole market.

He said: “Things have been slow. People are being very choosey and very careful with their money at this moment in time.

“It’s not just us, it’s the Premier League – it’s happening everywhere. They will assess what is happening and wait till the very last minute to see who is available and see whether someone is going to jump in before someone else.

“But who knows, Simon may be here come the start of the season.”
