CHIPPENHAM moved into the top four in North Two with an emphatic victory over a luckless Bristol & West side.

The home started well, causing problems in the Chippenham defence.

But Darren Bean remained solid and prevented any shots on goal.

The visitors struggled to get into the game under this pressure and it was Bristol who created the first clear chance as an unmarked forward narrowly missed from close range.

This galvanised Chippenham and, with Cameron Main and Scott Trainor seeing more of the ball, they worked the ball into good space and Alex Thomas had his shot well saved by the goalkeeper.

Chippenham’s defence continued to deal with any threats and with minutes to go to half time, Chippenham finally took the lead.

A fine tackle and run by Sampson fed Thomas who beat several defenders.

He committed the goalkeeper and unselfishly set up Main to finish.

A positive team talk during the break set the tome for the second half. Chippenham again upped the pace and both Main and Luke Morris had shots cleared off the line.

The visitors piled on the pressure and their second came within five minutes of the restart.

A team move down the left allowed Morris to set up Main for his second of the game.

A third came via some fine stick skills from Thomas to win a short corner. Thomas received the ball and Nigel Stonham casually lifted it over the goalkeeper into the net.

A fourth was scored by Trainor who slammed home a rebound after a initial strike from Main and the fifth with a move started by goalkeeper Howard Simons and finished again by Trainor Main completed his hat-trick from close range and Trainor followed suit with another close range finish after a slick short corner move.
