Concerns have been raised over speed ramps installed in a Trowbridge car park after several cars have suffered damage.

Motorists have complained that ramps at the entrances and exits of The Shires shopping centre car park are too high, are not clearly signposted and have caused damage to cars.

There were six ramps in total, including four new ones, but a ramp on the lower level one has since been taken away, as it was in the wrong place.

Motorist Michael Bradley said he damaged his car’s suspension on a ramp on Friday and had heard of other motorists losing exhausts.

He said: “I’m not disputing that they should be there, they should just be better signposted.

“The warning sign is too close to the ramp.”

Shopping centre manager Steve Murray said the ramps are there for safety reasons, are within guidelines and are clearly signposted, although he added that extra signs had been put up this week.
