Author Linda Dowsett has published her first book, Memories Are Made Of Love, at the age of 63 and is already writing her second.

Mrs Dowsett who lives with her husband Gordon, 73, in a bungalow in Southwick, near Trowbridge, found inspiration to write the romantic novel after a holiday to the Isle of Wight in 2007.

She has five children and 18 grandchildren and has had numerous jobs over the years, including owning her own business, Silhouette Fancy Dress Hire, from 1990 to 2002. She has enjoyed being part of the Southwick community for many years, baking cakes for the Scout fair and sewing costumes for the Southwick Entertainers Group.

Mrs Dowsett will be holding a book signing tomorrow in The Shires shopping centre. The books are on sale at WH Smith and Waterstones for £10.99.

Mrs Dowsett will also be appearing on The Weakest Link on December 7 at 5.15pm on BBC1.

Why did you move to Wiltshire?

We moved from Bath in 1977. I didn’t like this house at all from the outside and wasn’t going to go in but Gordon persuaded me. We’ve lived here ever since. I absolutely love Wiltshire and think it was the best move we have ever made.

What is the best Wiltshire view?

Out of my kitchen window, which looks onto the village church. I can also see the White Horse from outside my house.

You are Queen of Wiltshire for the day; what is the first law you would change or introduce?

I would have a national Linda Dowsett day where everybody would have a day off work to relax.

When you have visitors from out of the county, where do you go?

To the restaurant at Whitehall Garden Centre and we also go to Longleat.

What is your favourite restaurant or pub?

We used to like The White Rabbit restaurant in Westbury. We also like the Bell Inn at Rode and the Mash Tun, in North Bradley.

What local sports team do you support, if any?

I don’t like sports.

What do you do for fun?

I have my family round and we have a party. We turn the TV off and play games. Our grandchildren love it.

Describe your house and garden. What do you love about it?

When we bought the bungalow we spent seven months renovating it before we moved in. It’s just so peaceful here. Our garden is like a woodland, I have lots of bird feeders hanging around as I love birds. I sit in our conservatory and watch them.
