Every week in the Letters page there are always people writing about that damn bridge that the council want to build. Myself, I think there are more important jobs that need doing now.
For instance the council promised to put a pedestrian crossing near the old Co-op shop over to The Shambles, they even lowered the pavement for that purpose, but still no proper crossing. You take your life in your hands when you cross there.
I wrote to you about crossings in Bradford about three years ago so I thought I would try and stir it up again.
I still think there should be at least another four pedestrian crossings besides that one: starting at the top of Masons Hill from The Castle to Christchurch, then there should be one by Saxty’s, the estate agents, across to The Grocery Basket and along Frome Road from the Lock Inn across to the road leading to the school. They have a pedestrian crossing on Trowbridge Road from the school to the Plough Inn yet there are more people crossing by the Lock Inn besides children from the school.
There are walkers, cyclists going along the canal, plus people from barges have to get to the locks to open or shut them. The last one I think should be at the top of Trowbridge Road, from Southville Gardens to the bus stop at the entrance to Poulton. They say we can’t afford them yet in Trowbridge on Bythesea Road there are about three within yards of each other, which causes no end of problems.
Mr Mann, St Margaret’s Court, Bradford on Avon.
