A DENTAL practice in Bradford on Avon has closed, leaving hundreds of NHS patients unable to get treatment.

Jo Wilkins' surgery in Station Approach shut down last Friday without giving patients prior notice. Jo Coles, who is registered at the practice said: "I was astonished to see that it had closed down with no notice to patients and no alternative offered.

"How can a practice with several hundred patients on its register be allowed to close its doors with no alternative offered?"

A spokesman for the NHS Primary Care Trust said: "The PCT is working to re-negotiate the contract to provide a replacement dental service. "We were hoping to be able to do this before Jo Wilkins left. "However, the contract negotiations fell through, and so the PCT is writing to Jo Wilkins' patients to let them know there will be a break in service."

  • The spokesman advised patients who have any concerns to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 389 7671.
