Walking and cycling Walking and cycling are great ways to explore this compact city and further afield.

The Bath Skyline Walk is a six-mile circular walk around the city which encompasses woodlands, meadows, an Iron Age hill-fort, Roman settlements, 18th-century follies and spectacular views. Another lovely place to walk or cycle is along Kennet & Avon canal. Take the tow path from Widcombe and explore the surrounding countryside, stopping off at a few pubs along the way. The Bath to Bristol cycle path is also a favourite with pedestrains and cyclists. This traffic-free route has gentle gradients and is a great way of getting between the two cities.

Open-top bus There is no shortage of open-top bus tours in Bath. Details of tours can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre in Abbey Courtyard. Most offer a hop-on-hop-off service and tickets are usually valid for 24 hours.
