Two people have been taken to hospital following a head-on crash on the A363 between Trowbridge and Bradford on Avon this morning.

At around 8.30am, a blue Vauxhall Zafira and a blue Vauxhall Movano flatbed van, collided at the bottom of Widbrook Hill.

A woman driving the Zafira was cut out of her vehicle as a precautionary measure by firefighters after complaining of back pain. She was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for a check-up.

The man who was driving the van was treated at the scene for minor head injuries and then also taken to the RUH.

Neither of the drivers are thought to have life threatening injuries.

Three fire engines were called to the scene, two from Trowbridge and one from Bradford, while two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle also attended, as well as traffic officers, who are carrying out an investigation at the scene.

The road, which is closed from the Beehive Bridge in Bradford to Trowle Common, is expected to reopen shortly.
