Most Wiltshire primary schools are going ahead with SATS examinations this week despite many head teachers having misgivings about the tests.
Wiltshire Council said around 10 schools across the county were boycotting the tests but refused to say which ones.
Some of the headteachers have said while they supported the idea of boycotting SATS the union had given too short notice of the boycott.
Jackie Chalk, who has just moved to Seend Primary School as headteacher after a year of the school having an acting head, said: “I did vote for the boycott but I was advised by my union personally not to boycott the tests because of the timing of my move here.
“I don’t agree with SATS. They don’t measure or give any weight to all the other things that a school does.”
The headteachers at Bellefield Primary School in Trowbridge and Westbury Junior School have previously said they intend to boycott the SATS.
