PAUL Ranger will be hoping that his Winsley side can finish the season with a victory when they host Westbury Rangers A at Brown’s Park, Freshford tonight, after the game was switched from Meadow Lane. Both teams were involved in matches at the weekend which between them produced a total of 26 goals.

Westbury beat Maud Heath 9-5 while 10-man Winsley side suffered an 8-4 defeat at home to Cooper Avon.

Although Winsley were beaten 6-2 by Westbury in the reverse fixture, they will be quite happy that the game is in midweek rather than a Sunday.

Prior to their loss against Cooper Avon, they had won two on the spin, their last being a 9-0 win over Potterne almost two weeks ago.

So once again Ranger will be hoping that he has more than enough players available for a game which they could win.

With Westbury guaranteed third place Marc Lanfear, who has again topped the Premier Division scoring charts for the third time in four seasons, will be looking to add to the 33 goals he has to his name.

He scored a four-timer when the teams met previously and for Lanfear it will be the 10th season in a row he has finished as Westbury’s leading marksman.

Westbury should take the spoils from their hosts but if Winsley were to get something from the game it wouldn’t be a complete surprise as they would love to get one over Shaun Gardiner’s team.
