WINSLEY finished the season on a high with a 3-1 victory when they hosted Westbury Rangers A at Brown’s Park, Freshford on Wednesday evening after the game was switched from Meadow Lane. Winsley were beaten 6-2 in the reverse fixture and could have been as many as five or six down in the first half had it not been for goalkeeper Neil Hannaford, who produced a series of fine saves.
An own goal from Grant Price put Westbury one-up, before Mike Little restored parity for the villagers with a simple tap-in.
The second half was all Winsley and had Nketia Aboagye put away half of his many chances Paul Ranger’s side would have ran out more convincing winners.
But come the final whistle a second-half double from Jason Povey had earned them their 3-1 success.
