A lorry park in Melksham that was causing residents sleepness nights has finally been closed.

People living near to King Street car park in Melksham town centre had complained that lorry drivers using the car park would wake them up in the early hours of the morning by starting up their vehicles.

The vehicles would also create fumes, causing residents to keep their windows shut even during hot weather.

Following the issue being raised with local councillors and Melksham Area Board, the park was closed last Friday, to the delight of local residents.

Area board chairman Cllr Jonathon Seed said: “I am pleased that the last Melksham Area Board was able to develop an acceptable solution to the King Street Lorry Park issue.

“At this month’s area board we will try to do likewise for the long-running Bowerhill Sports Field and the A350 link road sagas.”
