Mum Karen Day thinks a spate of house cleaning in the run up to the due date of her second child may have sparked the baby's early arrival.

Mrs Day, 36, and her husband Alan, 37, have been trying to ready the house for the new addition to the family and Mrs Day went into labour a week early.

She was in labour for 24 hours before Ross was delivered by Caesarean section at the Royal United Hospital, Bath on August 3.

Mum and baby returned to Trowbridge Hospital the following day to recover.

One of the first visitors was Mr and Mrs Day's eldest son, Scott, who was pleased to see his new brother, but just as taken with the gifts and cards from well-wishers.

Mr Day, who runs Alan Robert Hairdressing, in Silver Street, Trowbridge and his wife, also a hairdresser, were 98 per cent sure they were having another son.

The couple, who live in Castell Close, Paxcroft Mead, plan to have one more child.

Mrs Day said: "We would like to have a try for a girl but I think one more will be it."

Born: August 3, 11.33pm, Weight: 6lb 10oz, Parents: Karen and Alan Day, from Trowbridge
