A young girl has been left devastated after her treasured Christmas present was stolen.

Shannon Bond had her scooter stolen from her home in Primmers Place, Westbury, some time between 4pm and 7pm on January 13.

The 12-year-old, who lives with her parents Juliet Badger and Damian Bond, and her siblings Amy, 15, and Harvey, 16 months, has been left devastated by the incident.

She said: “It was there on Wednesday night because I remember my dad falling over it in the garden and it was there on Thursday afternoon.

“I was really sad when I came back and realised it had gone. I wish I had put it in the shed when we went out now.”

Shannon’s mother, Miss Badger, 35, says it will take her and her husband, also 35, a long time to save for another JD Bug Scooter, which was limited edition and cost about £60.

“It will be nice if someone could return it because it took us such a long time to save up for it,” she said. “You try to get something nice for your children and this happens.

“It will take us a long time to save up for another one. It may not seem like a lot of money to some people but it is to us.”

Miss Badger believes the thieves targeted the scooter, which the Matravers School pupil had wanted for a long time, because nothing else was taken.

She said: “Scooters seem to be one of the crazes at the moment for kids and she’s wanted one for a while.

“The gate was shut so they would have had to unbolt the gate and get in that way or they may have jumped over. The gate was shut when we came back home.

“If they wanted to they could have taken Harvey’s toy car, two skateboards and a bike that was also left outside, but they didn’t.

The family have reported the theft to the police but so far it hasn’t shown up.
