CLIMATE Friendly Bradford on Avon has been rebranded following a merger with a partner group and is seeking new members.

The group, which will now be known as Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon Community Interest Company, is welcoming new members for a one-off fee of £5.

The group’s aim is to reduce carbon emissions in Bradford on Avon.

The merger has seen Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon join with Low Carbon Bradford on Avon, a group set up in 2009 to take part in the nationwide British Gas Green Streets programme.

The programme encouraged towns to reduce energy usage or produce renewable energy.

Low Carbon Bradford was one of 14 groups awarded £150,000 in energy investment for its efforts, including installing solar panels on houses and schools.

That programme has now ended and the two Bradford on Avon groups have come together to continue their work.

The company is a not-for-profit organisation and all the money raised will be invested back into community activities. There will be no major changes to the way it operates.

The group is hoping to select up to seven directors who will take responsibility for the strategy, finance and business.

The organisation is looking for people with a wide knowledge of low carbon and climate change. Call 07507 782523 or email climatechampions@gmail.com to volunteer.
