JUST reading the Wiltshire Times after returning from holiday in Scotland noticed the story about parking. I think that people should have the first hour, maybe two, free, as in Scotland the parking is free. I could not believe it, totally free.
And people did not abuse it, the shops were full not just of tourists but locals. If you go round Trowbridge you see empty shops everywhere you go. In Scotland I did not see any empty shops at all.
The council have got to stop being greedy as that’s all it is, and start thinking ‘let’s really do something to help these towns before they all sink’.
Stop the parking charge and you will steadily see shops flourishing again. Do the decent thing.
