WHAT is the matter with Trowbridge Town Council?

I have just returned from an early morning trip to the bank on a Monday; the empty shops, of which there are many, have jolly pictures in their windows, even curtains in one to hide the sad scene, not local pictures but bland rooms which mean nothing.

The streets are filthy and actually smell dirty. People are sitting in White Hart Yard sipping coffee whilst the pavement is strewn with litter and pigeon excrement and the smell of urine.

The waste bins were being emptied at the time and a rat scampered across the pedestrian precinct. Goodness knows what visitors think of our sad town.

Mrs Polledri and her colleagues do a marvellous job with wonderful containers, baskets and pots of flowers overflowing with colours around the town and a huge thank you to them for all their hard work.

Town councillors, please stop bleating about who did what and when and to whom in the town and just walk around.

The place you were elected to represent will shock you, parts of it are squalid.

How on earth can we teach our children to respect and protect their environment?
