I WOULD like to thank a local business that has kindly donated the funds to allow the Trowbridge Community First Responder scheme to acquire a second rescue bag.

St John Ambulance and the Great Western Ambulance Service run Community First Responder schemes across the county. CFR volunteers are trained by St John Ambulance and support GWAS by booking on with Ambulance Control and being sent to 999 calls that are categorised as critical. Since going live in March, Trowbridge CFRs have been available for 484 hours and been tasked with 98 jobs. This availability has been limited as we have only had a single rescue bag. By financing a second bag, the local business will allow us to provide even more support to the community. The fact that they have done this without asking for publicity only enhances their generosity.

Anyone who would like to find out more about supporting or joining a CFR group in Wiltshire should contact Julia Doel on 01380 811110 or St John Ambulance HQ on 01380 738915.
