WARMINSTER’S own X Factor hopeful Jonjo Kerr will have a chance to return to the show this week following the ejection of Frankie Cocozza.

The show released phone numbers this week for viewers to vote which of the four acts eliminated in the first live show will return at 8.15pm on Saturday.

The 28-year-old soldier is competing against James Michael, Amelia Lily and 2 Shoes, none of whom have yet faced a public vote, to perform either a Queen classic or Lady Gaga hit alongside the final six hopefuls.

Sister Siobhan Kerr, 29, who lives near Preston, Lancashire, said: “He’s over the moon about having a chance to get back up there, it is all a whirlwind again.

“I think the X Factor were waiting for the MoD to okay it all yesterday as he had gone back to work a week ago.

“He has been doing lots of things for charity rather than making money himself, which I think is great.”

Frankie Cocozza left the show on Tuesday after ‘breaking competition rules’, amid tabloid speculation about his private life and boasts of taking cocaine.

Jonjo, a private in the 3rd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment, based at Battlesbury Barracks, made a shock exit from The X Factor last month.

He lives with wife Melissa and sons Bradley, six, and Dominic, three months.

Last week he returned to his regiment, which is training for a tour in Afghanistan in February.

Originally from Chorley, Lancashire, Jonjo visited Football League club Preston North End earlier this month to promote the Tickets for Troops scheme.

The scheme provides 950 members of the Armed Forces with free tickets to npower Football League matches this month.

He said: “Most of the lads in the Armed Forces love sport, especially football. Tickets for Troops gives lads a break.

“I’ve always known I was a soldier. Anything I got out of X Factor was a bonus. I’d love to mix the Army with singing if possible. It would be great to entertain the troops.”
