BIDDESTONE Social were crowned Chippenham League Premier Division champions for a second successive season on Wednesday evening after their 3-1 victory over Pete Collier’s FC Bradford whose defeat means that they finish as runners-up to Dan Lardner’s side.

After nearly 24 hours of continuous rain it was a minor miracle that the match at Yatton Road went ahead, something referee Nigel Fisher and both sides must be credited for as the conditions were some of the worst experienced this term. Biddestone’s player-manager Dan Lardner was the catalyst for their victory as he followed his brace in their recent 3-1 win over Westbury Rangers A by scoring all three of their goals on the night.

Lardner opened the scoring on 12 minutes when his 18 yard shot hit the post and cannoned into the back of the net.

Jamie Lyons went close to adding a second for Biddestone on 32 minutes but his shot rattled the woodwork.

Lyons again hit the post on 50 minutes before Lardner claimed his second on 68 minutes, after beating two defenders in the area he fired home from eight yards.

Biddestone made it 3-0 on 71 minutes, Nathan Phillamore was brought down in the area and Lardner stepped up to score from the spot giving him and his team their third of the night. Bradford, who were missing a number of key players for what was their biggest game of the season, bagged a consolation in the 90th minute through Mark Robinson, whose goal saw him finish the campaign as the top flight’s top scorer with 20, just two ahead of Biddy’s three-goal hero Lardner.
