A Trowbridge dementia day club is to open on Saturdays for the first time.
Demand for places at Alzheimer’s Support’s Polebarn House club has increased steadily and the club, which has been running for 17 years, has decided to open at the weekend to help people on the waiting list.
Manager Jenny Mayne said: “We are very pleased to be able to offer the extra day. We will split the Saturday into morning and afternoon sessions and people can transfer to a full weekday as spaces arise.”
Mrs Mayne is looking for a volunteer to help run the new Saturday session.
They will help to provide activities and companionship and will be given training. Call 01225 776481 to find out more.
Alzheimer’s Support is also looking for musicians to play live at its monthly Alzheimer café at Fullingbridge Farm, near Westbury.
Chief executive Anna Littlechild said: “We always like to have background music at the café to add atmosphere and it is a good way for people to gain experience of playing live.
“We have had everything from a single guitarist to a seven-piece folk band.”
Anyone who would like to perform should call Anna on 01225 776481.
