FRESHFORD United who lifted the Somerset Junior Cup in 2010 and slipped out of the competition at the semi-final stage last term suffered and early exit this season after they were beaten 3-2 at home by Weston Super-Mare & District League fourth division high flyers Weston Players.
Freshford, who trailed 2-0 at the interval, got themselves back in the game in the second period with goals from Steve Roddy and Jamie Olding but they couldn’t find a third to take the tie to extra time as Weston held out for victory.
