KNOCKOUT CUP – SPONSORED BY CHANTRY DIGITAL LTD – QUARTER FINAL
CALNE TOWN RESERVES INTO SEMI FINALS
Division One side Calne Town Reserves moved into the semi finals of The Knockout Cup sponsored by Chantry Digital Ltd, but it took a penalty shootout to see off Division Two side Trowbridge Town Reserves. Both sides looked dangerous from the kick-off with both keepers being called into action with the highlight of the first half being an excellent penalty save from the Trowbridge keeper to maintain the deadlock.
With Calne starting to apply pressure after the break Trowbridge held firm with their keeper continuing to pull off a string of fine saves while they remained a threat at the other end by creating chances to win the game.
Extra time ebbed and flowed but with both sides tiring, the game entered into the penalty shootout and converted efforts by Jamie Crump, Scott Kane, Brett Fairclough, Tom Boakes and a decisive save by keeper Craig Edwards saw Calne Town Reserves through 4 – 3.
