RELEGATED Warminster missed out on the chance to sign off at Sambourne Road for the season with a win as they were beaten by second-from-bottom Gloucester City Winget last weekend.

The visitors batted first after winning the toss, with Ed Young (72), Matt Jennings (53) and Ben Lambert (42) all finding their range.

Warminster’s Nick Hembury did his best to stem the tide by taking four wickets, while skipper Tom Davie and Rory Cullinan both claimed two apiece as Gloucester were skittled for 250 in the final over of their innings.

Hembury hit 50 as he spearheaded the hosts’ run chase but Warminster were put under the cosh, with Jennings (3-19) and Amit Patel (3-33) doing the damage.

Davie made 35, while Nathan Bond hit 26 but Warminster were all out for 209 in the 47th over.

Meanwhile, Westbury suffered a narrow 10-run defeat at home to Stroud in their penultimate game of the season in the Glos/Wilts Division.

Richard Oakley’s side won the toss and put the visitors in to bat first, with Andy Carroll (3-21) and Martin Dolman (3-30) turning the screw.

Stroud’s Freddie Walker hit 60, with Lewis Gegg weighing in with 59, as the visitors posted 213-9.

As they chased down their target, Patrick Joseph top-scored with 31 for Oakley’s men, with Ben Whiting (24), Dolman (22) and Dan Gill (17) all doing their best to put runs on the board.

But Westbury found themselves put under constant pressure, with Stroud’s Chris Job (2-14), Callum Gegg (2-22) and Walker (2-33) hampering their efforts as the hosts fell short on 203-9.
