TROWBRIDGE strengthened their grip on second place in Southern Counties South as they battled to victory at third-placed rivals.
Tom Weaver opened the scoring for the visitors with a penalty, followed by a great solo unconverted try from James McFarlane.
Sherborne hit back with a try from James Flynn and conversion from Hamish Dalziel.
But the visitors increased their slender lead with another Weaver penalty, only for Sherborne’s Ben Morton to round the Trowbridge defence and score out wide.
Another successful conversion from Dalziel gave Sherborne a three-point lead at the break.
The second half started with Trowbridge piling the pressure on the home defence that eventually gave way for Adam Sullivan to crash over to score, Weaver adding the extras to put the visitors back in front.
Sherborne fought back with an unconverted try from Jonny Hole which handed them the lead.
However,Trowbridge were awarded a penalty in front the home posts, Weaver’s kick putting his side back in front heading into a tense final quarter.
The game was decided by an unconverted Sean Jones try which wrapped up the four points for Steve Ojomoh’s men.
