THE Wednesday Open match at Landsend Fishery produced lower weights than of late but still provided exciting sport.

Mosella star Tony Rixon hit the jackpot again with a mixed catch of carp and silver fish weighing 50lb 7oz, taken alternating with long pole fished casters and sweetcorn.

Runner-up was Doug Pentney, of Avon Angling, with an all-carp catch weighing 37lb 1oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn. He was followed by Mark Duckett, of Landsend, with a mixed bag weighing 28lb 6oz, taken on pole-fished sweetcorn.

Other placings: 4 Kevin Molton, Maver Veals, 26lb 14oz; 5 Andy Oram, Dynamite Baits, 21lb 6oz; 6 Clive Davis, Sarfix SW, 20lb 10oz. Silver fish prize, Nigel Duckett, 19lb 10oz.

Silver lining for Jackson

THE midweek silver fish only open match at Viaduct Fishery produced some fine catches.

Steve Jackson, of Garbolino, won with a mixed bag of perch and skimmers weighing 25lb 13oz, taken on long and short pole fished casters.

Dave Roper, of Reid's Tackle, was second with a perch and skimmer catch weighing 17lb 12oz, taken on pole-fished casters. He was followed by Nicky Collins, of Somerset Angling, with a skimmer catch weighing 15lb 13oz, taken alternating with pole-fished casters and red maggots.

Other placings: 4 William Bonnie, Sensas Blackmore Vale MG, 13lb 9oz; 5 Ron Randell, Sensas Blackmore Vale MG, 13lb 6oz; 6 Gary O'Shea, Thatchers, 12lb 15oz.
