CORSHAM minis welcomed Bath to Lacock Road for their first game since the Christmas holidays.

The under 11s were expecting a hard game after their visit to the Bath club last year.

The Corsham A pack made a slow start with the first game against Bath A, conceding a try before half-time.

Not to be defeated though, Corsham fought back with a disciplined and dominant display from the front five.

Strong tackling from the backs and good support play kept Corsham in the game and Ollie Deane went over to make the final score 5-5.

The second game between Corsham B and Bath A saw the visitors win five tries to nil.

Corsham coach John Deane said: "We expected a tough test after Christmas, meeting Bath."

After the usual slow start from Corsham resulting in a try being conceded, a great come back in the second half saw James Catlin score, but the try was disallowed.

The second game saw several new players cut their teeth against the Bath A team, Cameron Fisher and George Smith did well and Robert Ellis put in some great tackles.

The Corsham under eights played three games against Bath with the results: Bath 10, Corsham 4; Bath 10, Corsham 6, and Bath 6, Corsham 6 It was a tough day for the under eights who had been off since before the Christmas break, as well as an additional week due to weather.

While Corsham struggled in all games, they did improve as the day continued.

Edward Bray led Corsham's attack with sixtries, followed by Sean Johnson, William Cornwell and Grant Kersh with three tries each and Samuel Callahan with one.

The under 12s were beaten by three tries to one, falling behind two tries in the first half due to momentary lapses in concentration.

The second half saw a better performance where they held the visitors to a try apiece.

In the second match Bath proved too strong for Corsham and they ran out winners by four tries to nil.

The Corsham minis play at Bradford on Avon on Sunday.
