CORSHAM'S second string afforded themselves more breathing space at the top of Dorset and Wilts Division Three West as they defeated second-placed Bath Saracens 58-0 at Lacock Road on Saturday.

Against a weakened Saracens outfit, the Wiltshire side made it 11 wins from as many league outings and in doing so they extended their 100 per cent record for the season - 15 games in all competitions.

Saturday's emphatic top-of-the-table victory was born out of an impressive team ethic which saw forwards and backs link effectively to produce a 10-try romp in blustery and biting conditions.

Centres Steve Scholes-Hamilton and Donovan Van Lill and skipper and hooker Tim Russell led the way with two tries apiece, with the other tries coming from wings Tony Iacono and Chris Ferris, scrum-half Rich Cartwright and flanker Martin Shepperdson. Phil Kernan (2), Cartwright and Rory Auld shared the conversions.

The leaders will look to extend their winning run when they host North Dorset 4th on Saturday, but the side will be forced into changes after injuries to Gary Ings (ankle) and Kernan (hamstring).

Corsham Colts 17, Sherborne Colts 5

CORSHAM Colts clinched a 17-5 victory over Wiltshire League leaders Sherborne on Sunday.

Despite a below-par performance, the young Wiltshire side just had enough to resist the home side.

No 8 Rhys Jones fed his scrum-half Tom Simons for the first score, although the Dorset outfit hit back with a try to level at 5-5 at the break.

Prop Alex Abbey crashed over next for Corsham, Simons converting, and after having two tries disallowed, the Wiltshire youngsters eventually sealed victory when fly-half Dave Jenkins jinked his way through to score.

Corsham colts James Coleman, Rhys Jones and Tom Simons will represent Dorset and Wilts against Somerset on Sunday.
