NEW boss Shaun Gardiner offered no excuses after Westbury United fell to an emphatic defeat at Cribbs.
Gardiner is still only three weeks into his tenure at Meadow Lane and ended a 14-match winless run with victory at home to Oldland Abbotonians last weekend.
However, Westbury suffered a hefty reality check at Cribbs and were already 6-0 in arrears before Jordan Matthews was able to net a consolation.
“We had three or four players missing but we were outclassed, to be fair. I can’t sugar coat it,” said Gardiner.
“It’s very frustrating. I knew they were a good side but we made them look better than they were.
“I was a bit down in the dumps on Saturday night but it’s no good feeling like that.
“I know what we’re capable of and we’ve just got to get back at it. We definitely have something to build on.”
Westbury will look for a response when they entertain Hengrove Athletic on Saturday.
