PRESTIGE Bodyworks FC edged a step closer to the S.K. Fruits Ltd-sponsored Chippenham & District Sunday League Premier Division title courtesy of a solitary goal against a White Horse A side, who signed off their first ever top-flight campaign in frustrating fashion.
With the Little Marsh slope in their favour for the first 45 minutes, the champions-elect would have been somewhat disappointed to have gone in at the break all square at 0-0, despite riding their luck on a couple of occasions.
The deadlock wasn’t to remain in place too long into the second half however, as Horse failed to clear their lines from a Prestige corner and moments later Craig Fisher steered home to relieve the pressure that was building within the away side’s ranks.
Despite a nervy last 10 minutes, the visitors held on to their precious 1-0 lead, replicating the score line from when the sides met back in September and taking a tentative step closer to holy grail ahead of a mouth-watering, potentially winner-takes-all, encounter with Corsham CC Wildcats next Sunday.
With Corsham CC Wildcats match against Somerford being postponed due to the latter being unable to raise a team, it is hoped the sides can arrange a midweek fixture played before next weeks title decider between the Wildcats and Prestige.
