FROME Town boss Josh Jeffries believes his side could have left Hardenhuish Park with all three points on Bank Holiday Monday following their 2-2 draw away to Chippenham Town.

The visitors twice took the lead in the first half but were pegged back on each occasion as they were left to rue further missed opportunities and the woodwork.

Jake Jackson’s header put the visitors in front before Matt Smith scored against his former side to level the scores.

However, Chippenham were behind at the break when Mikey Bryant netted and but Frome were denied the win when Alex Ferguson salvage a draw for the hosts.

The point leaves Frome in sixth place in Southern League Premier Division, three points behind fourth-placed Chippenham, and Jeffries says the feeling of disappointment is a good sign of where his side are at present.

“It was probably a little bit disappointing that we didn’t put it to bed in the first half,” said Jeffries.

“We wanted to take the game to them and go out with a bit of tempo, which we did, and we fully dominated the first half.

“It was a bit of a different game in the second half, which probably didn’t suit our style as much, so it was a bit frustrating not to get it done in that first half.”

Frome now face a trip to 19th placed Kings Langley on Saturday and with Jeffries back on the sidelines on Monday, after a three-game suspension, he is keen to see how far his side can go in the second half of the season.

He said: “I expect it was probably nicer for my wife, but it was good to be back. Hopefully we can put that stuff behind us now.”
